Butterfly no. 1 - Fine Art Print

Butterfly no. 1 - Fine Art Print

Introducing my first butterfly illustration (hence, the name "Butterfly no. 1") in what would go on to be a 20-piece drawing set.

In the fall of 2020, around a year after exploring the subject of gemstones, I wanted to channel my love of color and pattern to a different subject. After some time and thought, I decided to start drawing butterflies and moths. For all of these beautiful insects, I used my creative liscense with - so that none of them are rendered exactly like an exsisting species, but rather, a creative and artistic inturpretation of the real thing.

All of my butterfly and moth drawings in this series were created entirely with Copic markers and Prismacolor colored pencils, and as mentioned above, this is the first of 20 illustrations of this subject. The focus of the series was on color, shape, and detail - with a particular emphasis on blending. "Butterfly no. 1" has a very special meaning for me being the first one I completed, and it beautifully captures the inspiration behind this entire series.
